The Cans
Why cans? To be honest we were against it at first. It was just simply a built-in bias in my head that "craft beer does not come in a can". Then we started to research it and the more we learned about it, the more we figured out it just made sense. We set out to build a sustainable brewery, and the evidence of advantages over bottles kept making itself clear that this was the right package for our beer.
There are several obvious advantages that are both better for the environment and for the beer. The physical footprint of the canning line itself is very small, allowing us to better utilize our space and also requiring fewer material resources for the equipment itself. Cans themselves are lighter in weight than bottles which makes it less impactful on the environment to ship. Aluminum is easy to recycle and facilities exist in almost every area throughout the country. Aluminum also doesn't allow any light to shine into the beer, keeping it fresh longer.
